Рођен у Београду 11. марта 1853. Ту је завршио основну школу, гимназију и Велику школу, а у Јени студирао биологију. Био је професор зоологије и ботанике и директор гимназија у Београду и Шапцу. Бавио се књижевним и научним радом. Објављивао је у часопису "Отаџбина" који је и уређивао 1888. године. Преводио је са нењмачког и са руског језика.
