Др Оскар Ажбот био је један од повереника угарског Министарства за јавну наставу и испит зрелости. Такође, Ажбот је био један од признатих славистичких стручњака и као такав, пратећи наставу у Гимназији у Новом Саду, тражио је да се побољша мађарски језик, али да не угрози матерњи (српско-хрватски) језик ученика.
